Summer Safety
Summer is almost here-let’s make it safe, cool, and fun! Here are your must-know tips for staying protected as the temps rise:
- Sunscreen Smarts: Don’t forget to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) before heading out. Did you know? The number on your sunscreen (like SPF 30) isn’t the “strength”-it tells you how many times longer you’re protected compared to no sunscreen. For example, if you burn in 10 minutes, SPF 30 gives you about 300 minutes of protection-but always reapply every 2 hours, especially after swimming or sweating.
- Rash Guards & Sun Shirts: Rock a rash guard or sun shirt for extra UV protection, especially during water activities. Many offer UPF 50+ and keep you cool and stylish.
- UV Reminder Dots: Want a fun way to remember when to reapply? Try UV sunscreen dots (available on Amazon). They change color when it’s time to reapply, making sun safety easy and interactive!
- Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Bring a reusable water bottle and snack on water-rich fruits like watermelon and cucumbers to stay refreshed.
- Seek Shade & Bring Umbrellas: Take breaks in the shade whenever possible. Set up umbrellas at the pool, park, or beach to block those rays and keep cool.
- Don’t Forget: Hats, sunglasses, and lightweight, light-colored clothing add extra protection for your skin and eyes.
Let’s enjoy every sunny day safely-protect your skin, stay cool, and have an awesome summer!
