Associate Laboratory Microbiologist (Bioinformatics)

Position Summary
The Associate Laboratory Microbiologist (Bioinformatics) supports genomic surveillance, molecular testing, and public health laboratory operations through bioinformatics analysis of environmental and clinical specimens. The role works closely with laboratory scientists, epidemiologists, and public health partners to support infectious disease surveillance and outbreak response initiatives.

Assignment Details

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM 1hour unpaid lunch daily.
  • Hours: 35 hours per week
  • Worksite: NY 10016 (Manhattan)
  • Medical Clearance Required:Yes
  • Fit Testing Required: Yes
  • Pay: $32.25/hr Paid Weekly via direct deposit

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 24 months of experience in:
    • Bioinformatics analysis
    • Molecular testing
    • Genomic surveillance
    • Laboratory testing involving environmental or clinical specimens

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows.
  • Experience with genomic data analysis pipelines and phylogenetic analysis.
  • Proficiency with bioinformatics software and genomic analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with infectious disease surveillance and outbreak response.
  • Experience analyzing environmental and clinical sequencing data.
  • Public health or clinical laboratory experience preferred.
