Job Description:

We are seeking experienced and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join the Pediatric Emergency Department at this Hospital in Syracuse, NY This is an evening/night shift contract position for nurses with a strong background in pediatric emergency care.

Contract Details:

Start Date: 6/06
End Date: 9/10
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Weekly Pay: $1800 (MI&L included) 

Qualifications:

• Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License (required)
• CPR Certification (or ability to obtain/renew prior to start)
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience (required)
• Prior experience in inpatient, Emergency Department (ED), or Pediatric ED settings strongly preferred
• Proven skills in IV placement and phlebotomy
• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Willingness to work every other weekend and select holidays

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver patient care in an acute care/emergency setting with minimal supervision
• Perform IV placements and phlebotomy procedures as needed
• Greet patients and prepare them for exams and procedures
• Take and record vital signs; monitor and report changes in patient condition
• Assist providers with exams, injections, and various procedures (e.g., pap smears)
• Set up sterile trays and equipment for procedures
• Provide patient education and support under RN supervision
• Maintain and stock exam rooms and clinical areas, ensuring cleanliness and readiness
• Schedule appointments and manage basic front-desk duties as needed
• Contact insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations (PT, MRI, CT, surgery, etc.)
• Communicate with primary care providers for referrals and care coordination
• Accurately document all care provided in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system

Additional Details:

• Shift: Night Shift, 12 hours
• Required to work every other weekend and some holidays
• Excessive time off and set weekly schedules will not be approved
