Job Description

We are seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for a 3-night Emergency Department (ED) contract. LPNs will provide essential patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting, working closely with an interdisciplinary team to stabilize patients and support emergency interventions.

Contract Details

• Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
• Start Date: 5/30
• End Date: 8/27
• Shift: 12-hour shifts, 3 nights per week
• Schedule: Every other weekend and some holidays required
• Unit: Adult Emergency Department (Trauma Level I)
• Pay: $1,800.00/week ( M&I and Lodging included )

Qualifications

• Current New York State LPN license (or eligibility)
• Current CPR certification (or eligible for recertification)
• Minimum of one (1) year of LPN experience required
• Prior inpatient or ED experience preferred
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) strongly preferred

Skills and Requirements

• Proficiency in IV placement and phlebotomy
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
• Capable of working collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
• Organizational skills for managing multiple priorities in a busy environment

Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care under the supervision of an RN or physician
• Greet, escort, and prepare patients for exams and procedures
• Set up trays for injections, take and record vital signs, and document patient progress
• Perform phlebotomy, place IVs, and administer injections as ordered
• Assist with procedures (e.g., Pap smears) and support physicians during exams
• Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and clinical areas
• Complete general office tasks: reception, appointment scheduling, chart preparation, and filing
• Obtain insurance authorizations for therapies and procedures
• Communicate with primary care providers to manage referrals
• Observe and report patient responses to treatments and interventions
• Participate in unit operations, including patient education, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary meetings
• Implement nursing care activities as outlined in the care plan and report changes to supervising RN
• Utilize EMR systems for accurate documentation and workflow management
