##  Surgical/Operating Room Tech (Adult or Pediatric), Endo Tech ## 

Location: Syracuse, NY 

Salary: $38.00 / hr 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Surgical/Operating Room Technician to join our healthcare team at a leading hospital in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will provide essential support in the operating room, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for surgical procedures.

 Qualifications

– Current certification in BLS and able to be recertified.

– Minimum of 3 years recent experience (within the past 4 years) in an operating room within an acute care facility of similar level (Level 1 trauma center or teaching hospital) or an equivalent size facility in the specialty area (adults or pediatrics).

– Scrub experience is required, with operating room experience in general surgery and specialty areas such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, trauma, vascular, ENT, bariatric, GU, and GYN.

– No First Assist certification is required in New York State.

– First-time travelers will only be considered if experienced in hospitals of equal size.

– Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

– Must not have had professional license or certification suspended or investigated.

– Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance.

– Must hold and maintain Certified Surgical Technology certification.

 Key Responsibilities

– Prepare and maintain the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile and ready for use.

– Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and performing other tasks as directed.

– Monitor patient vital signs and ensure patient safety throughout the surgical procedure.

– Maintain a sterile field throughout the operation and adhere to all infection control protocols.

– Participate in the cleaning and restocking of the operating room after procedures to ensure readiness for subsequent surgeries.

– Collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate needs during procedures and respond promptly to requests for instruments or supplies.

– Document all relevant information related to surgical procedures, including instruments used and any complications that arise.

 Required Skills

– Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and their uses.

– Ability to remain calm under pressure and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

– Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

– Attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols.
