Social Worker – Asylee

Job Description

Cure Staffing Inc. seeks a Supervising Social Worker to lead emotional and mental health support services for asylum-seeking individuals and families, in collaboration with NYCEM. This role involves crisis intervention, resource navigation, and training to enhance coping strategies and reduce systemic stressors for clients and staff.

Work Address: NYC 10019

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (35 hours/week, including 1-hour unpaid lunch)

Pay: $42.50/hr

Qualifications

Credentials: Master of Social Work (MSW) with LMSW or LCSW licensure

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year post-master’s experience in crisis counseling, trauma-informed care, or disaster mental health
  • Proven ability to assess client needs, provide psychological first aid, and connect individuals to long-term case management.
  • Prior supervisory or training roles preferred.

Skills & Requirements

Core Competencies:

  • Crisis intervention and brief therapeutic modalities for post-trauma/grief support.
  • Data collection, entry, and tracking proficiency.
  • Fluency in Spanish (required) and experience working with diverse populations.

Technical: Proficient in Microsoft Suite, protocol adherence, and deadline-driven workflows.

Soft Skills: Collaborative, initiative-driven, and strong written communication.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in disaster mental health, public health settings, or asylum-seeker populations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Direct Client Support:

  • Conduct assessments to identify emotional, psychological, and resource needs.
  • Deliver psychological first aid, crisis counseling, and brief interventions to mitigate distress.
  • Advocate for clients by securing housing, healthcare, and legal resources.

Supervision & Training:

  • Train staff and clients on stress management, burnout prevention, and system navigation.
  • Provide guidance to junior social workers and volunteers.

Collaboration:

  • Partner with NYCEM, case managers, and community organizations to streamline referrals.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care plans.

Administrative:

  • Maintain accurate client records and program data for reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality protocols and agency policies.
