##  Safety Companion (1:1 Observation)  ## 

Location: Syracuse, NY 

Salary: $25.00 / hr 

We are seeking a compassionate and attentive Safety Companion to join our healthcare team at a leading hospital in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will provide essential support and constant observation for patients requiring safety monitoring, ensuring their well-being during their hospital stay.

 Qualifications

– Ability to be certified/re-certified in CPR

– Basic patient care skills expected, including ambulation, toileting, skin care, and mouth care as needed

– Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in teams

– Demonstrated patient-focused approach

– Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance

 Key Responsibilities

– Provide constant observation of patients in need of safety watch, including those on suicide watch or exhibiting confusion, agitation, or a high risk for falls and injury

– Assist patients with basic needs such as ambulation, toileting, skin care, and mouth care as required

– Maintain a safe environment for patients by monitoring their behavior and reporting any changes or concerns to nursing staff

– Engage patients in conversation to provide emotional support and reassurance

– Document patient observations accurately and report any significant changes in behavior or condition to the appropriate healthcare team members

– Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care

– Follow departmental policies and procedures regarding patient safety and observation protocols

 Required Skills

– Strong observational skills to monitor patient behavior effectively

– Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and staff

– Capacity to remain calm and composed in challenging situations

– Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional patient care
