Job Description

The Registered Nurse – Pediatric Emergency Department (Night Shift) provides high-quality, immediate care to pediatric patients at this Hospital in Syracuse, NY. This role involves working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to assess, triage, and treat children experiencing acute medical conditions, injuries, or trauma.

Contract Details

• Location: Syracuse, NY
• Department: Pediatric Emergency Department
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Schedule: Every other weekend and some holidays required
• Assignment Dates: 5/30 to 8/27
• Pay: $2,022.90 ( MI&L Included ) 

Qualifications

• Current New York State RN license and registration
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS); eligible for recertification
• Minimum two years of recent experience in a similar acute care facility
• Experience must be primarily in a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department
• No prior suspension/investigation of professional license or certification
• No history as a named defendant in a professional liability claim
• Legal right to work in the U.S.; must pass pre-employment health clearance, drug screening, and background check

Skills and Requirements

• Strong triage skills with formal triage training
• Proficiency in pediatric emergency care clinical skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
• Experience with Level 1 or Level 2 trauma preferred
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Ability to work under pressure and remain calm in emergencies

Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with minimal supervision
• Perform thorough and accurate nursing assessments and triage
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed
• Monitor vital signs and patient responses
• Collaborate effectively with physicians and healthcare teams
• Provide emotional support to patients and families
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital policies
• Ensure a safe, organized, and efficient patient care environment
• Recognize and report signs of child abuse or neglect
