Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse with a strong background in critical care to provide exceptional pre- and post-operative care to adult patients in our PACU. This role is ideal for RNs who thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment and are committed to patient safety and high-quality care.

Contract Details

• Location: Syracuse, NY 13215
• Department: Adult PACU (Pre/Post-Op)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: June 6, 2025
• End Date: September 10, 2025
• Schedule: 6 shifts per 2-week period (12-hour shifts: 07:00–19:30 or 11:00–23:30)
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Call Requirement: None
• Pay: Weekly $2,720 (MI&L included)

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted New York State RN license
• Current BLS certification (or ability to recertify prior to start)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience (within the last 2 years) in an acute care facility of comparable size and complexity
• Experience in PACU and/or critical care strongly preferred
• Travelers must have experience in hospitals of similar or greater size/trauma level
• No history of license or certification suspension/investigation or professional liability claims
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• Successful completion of pre-employment health clearance, drug screening, and criminal background check

Skills and Requirements

• Proficiency in EPIC EMR preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
• Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and quality care standards

Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive pre- and post-operative nursing care to surgical patients
• Perform accurate and timely patient assessments and nursing interventions
• Monitor and manage patient recovery following anesthesia
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care
• Document all care activities in the electronic medical record (preferably EPIC)
• Uphold infection control protocols and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
