** Laboratory Technician – Phlebotomist **

Location: Syracuse, NY

Salary: $38.00 / hr

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team at a leading hospital in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in collecting blood samples and performing various laboratory tests to support patient care.

 Qualifications

– High school diploma or equivalent required

– One year of related phlebotomy experience strongly preferred

– Basic understanding of medical laboratory technology desired

– Excellent customer service skills

– Good manual dexterity

– Ability to satisfactorily and efficiently complete daily blood draws

– Must maintain patient confidentiality

– Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance

 Key Responsibilities

– Perform venipuncture and microsampling blood collection for adults and children as requested[1][5]

– Conduct bleeding times, sweat chlorides, and glucose tolerance tests

– Keep work area clean and adequately stocked

– Order supplies as necessary from general store and/or outside accounts

– Greet patients and enter patient demographics and test requests into Laboratory Information System

– Answer telephone requests from physician offices and provide patient results to appropriate healthcare providers

– Deliver specimens and process patient specimens for analysis, as required

 Required Skills

– Proficiency in various blood collection techniques

– Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen handling and labeling

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction

– Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical environment

– Knowledge of safety protocols and infection control procedures

– Basic computer skills for data entry and patient registration
