Occupational Therapy Assistant – Certified (COTA)

Location: Syracuse, NY

Salary: $33.00 / hr

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team at a leading hospital in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of Occupational Therapists to provide rehabilitative services to patients with physical, emotional, or developmental impairments.

 Qualifications

– Associate degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant

– NYS C.O.T.A. certification and registration

– 2 years of clinical experience (preferably in acute care)

– Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance

 Key Responsibilities

– Assist Occupational Therapists in the evaluation of patients

– Assess activities of daily living (ADL) skills

– Assist in treatment planning

– Monitor patient responses to treatment and modify treatment in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist

– Attend designated clinics, rounds, and conferences to provide patient information

– Complete appropriate documentation of patient progress and treatments

– Implement therapeutic activities to improve patients’ functional abilities

– Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques and equipment use

 Required Skills

– Strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

– Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

– Proficiency in documenting patient care and progress

– Knowledge of safety protocols and infection control procedures
