** Music Therapist **

Location: Syracuse, NY

Salary: $38.00 / hr

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Music Therapist to join our pediatric team at a leading hospital in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will organize and implement a music therapy program to support the emotional, physical, and social well-being of our pediatric patients and their families.

 Qualifications

– Master’s degree in Music Therapy required

– Music Therapy Board Certified (MT-BC) required within 2 years of appointment

– Limited permit may be considered for appointment

 Key Responsibilities

– Organize and implement a music therapy program for the hospital’s pediatric population and families

– Assess patients’ emotional well-being, physical health, and social functioning through music-based interventions

– Plan and conduct individual and group music therapy sessions based on patients’ specific needs

– Participate in planning, ongoing evaluation, and follow-up with the multidisciplinary team

– Engage patients and families in therapeutic music interventions in inpatient and outpatient areas

– Implement music therapy activities to address pain management, emotion regulation, and developmental support

– Provide a positive and therapeutic environment that facilitates creative expression for patients and families

– Document patient progress and maintain accurate records of music therapy interventions

 Required Skills

– Proficiency in various musical instruments, including guitar, piano, and percussion

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and healthcare team members

– Ability to adapt interventions to suit individual patient needs and developmental stages

– Knowledge of pediatric growth and development

– Familiarity with evidence-based music therapy practices in pediatric healthcare settings
