** Medical Scribe **

Location: Syracuse, NY

Salary: $25.00 / hr

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Scribe to join our healthcare team at a leading hospital in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will provide essential documentation support to healthcare professionals, ensuring accurate and timely patient records.

 Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree or pertinent college-level courses

– Three years of administrative/office management experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

– Proficiency in EPIC EMR system

– Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical documentation standards

– Excellent English composition skills, including typing, spelling, punctuation, and grammar

– Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments

– Ability to translate medical abbreviations into their expanded forms

– Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills

– Ability to type quickly and accurately

 Key Responsibilities

– Maintain and perform administrative charting of clinical services provided to patients

– Document patient medical history, physical exams, procedures, and treatments performed by healthcare professionals

– Accurately scribe physician-dictated diagnoses, medications, and instructions for patients or family members

– Prepare referral letters under the direction of the provider

– Identify and correct mistakes or inconsistencies in medical documentation

– Ensure all clinical data, lab results, and physician interpretations are accurately recorded in the electronic medical record

– Attend patient selection and multidisciplinary patient care committee meetings as assigned

– Enter notes regarding team recommendations and patient status into EPIC

– Consult with RN Coordinator and/or Physician Committee Chair to ensure accuracy and adequacy of documentation

 Required Skills

– Proficiency in EPIC EMR system and ability to learn new functions

– Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

– Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical environment

– Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA standards
