** Laboratory Technician – Histotechnologist **

Location: Syracuse, NY

Salary: $65.00 / hr

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Histotechnologist to join our pathology team at a leading hospital in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in preparing and analyzing tissue specimens for diagnostic and research purposes.

 Qualifications

– NYS License/registration or limited permit to practice as a certified Histological Technician or Clinical Laboratory Technologist

– Two years of histology or clinical laboratory experience

– Ability to distinguish colors

– Must successfully pass pre-employment health clearance

 Key Responsibilities

– Utilize technical skills in histology and special procedures laboratory

– Ensure timely and accurate performance of histology clinical and research laboratory testing

– Perform sectioning and staining in the histology laboratory

– Conduct special stains, immunohistochemical stains, and enzyme histochemistry

– Execute sophisticated histology procedures, including:

– Special stains

– Immunostains

– Eye pathology

– Neuropathology

– Enzyme preparation

– Nerve biopsies

– Renal biopsies

– Muscle biopsies

– Perform appropriate computer data entry for Surgical Pathology and research specimens

– Maintain current specimen computer records

– Enter billing information accurately

– Observe and contribute to laboratory safety practices

– Maintain patient confidentiality at all times

 Required Skills

– Proficiency in histology techniques and procedures

– Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen handling and processing

– Excellent time management and multitasking abilities

– Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and quality control procedures

– Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
