** Dental Hygienist **

Location: Syracuse, NY

Salary: $40.00 / hr

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our healthcare team at a leading hospital in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality dental care and promote excellent oral health practices to our patients.

 Qualifications

– Associate degree from an approved Dental Hygiene Program

– Current New York State license/registration as a Dental Hygienist

– 2 years of dental hygiene work experience

– Certification in CPR/Basic Life Support (required by time of appointment)

 Key Responsibilities

– Greet and seat patients, reviewing their medical and dental information

– Explain treatments and procedures to patients

– Document all patient activity accurately

– Perform clinical procedures, including:

– Prophylaxis cleaning

– Scaling and root planing

– Polishing

– Fluoride treatments

– Sealant application

– Dental x-rays

– Decontaminate and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms

– Provide patient education on proper oral hygiene

– Administer local anesthesia during periodontal scaling and root planing (if certified)

– Administer and monitor nitrous oxide during dental hygiene treatment to assist with patient anxiety (if certified)

– Maintain patient confidentiality

– Provide excellent customer service

– Communicate effectively with staff and other healthcare providers

 Required Skills

– Strong clinical skills in dental hygiene procedures

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

– Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

– Proficiency in maintaining detailed patient records

– Knowledge of infection control practices and sterilization techniques

– Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
