** Child Life Specialist **

Location: Syracuse, NY

Salary: $42.00 / hr

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Child Life Specialist to join our pediatric team at a leading hospital in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will provide crucial developmental and psychosocial support to our young patients and their families during their hospital stay.

 Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, or related field

– Completion of a child life internship under the direct supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist

– Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential required

 Key Responsibilities

– Assess children’s developmental and coping needs in the inpatient general pediatrics unit

– Provide preparation, age-appropriate diversion, and emotional support to minimize distress associated with hospitalization and medical encounters

– Collaborate as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team

– Develop and implement strategies to help children and families cope with medical procedures and hospitalization

– Create a supportive and comforting environment for pediatric patients

– Educate patients and families about medical procedures using age-appropriate language and techniques

– Advocate for the needs of children and families within the healthcare setting

 Required Skills

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills

– Ability to work effectively with children of all ages and their families

– Knowledge of child development and family systems

– Proficiency in therapeutic play techniques

– Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills

– Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally challenging environment

 Additional Information

– May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
