Job Description
Cure Staffing is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support Sexual Health and Tuberculosis Chest Clinics. The mission of these clinics is to promote sexual and respiratory health, reduce the impact of sexually transmitted infections, and prevent the transmission of tuberculosis in New York City. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role by providing direct clinical support, assisting in patient care, preparing specimens, and performing essential clerical duties. This position requires flexibility to work at various clinic sites across NYC.
Contract Details
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (35 hours/week, one hour unpaid lunch)
- Work Locations: Various sites
- Medical Clearance Required: Yes
- Fit Testing Required: Yes
- Pay: $25/hr paid weekly via direct deposit
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certification
- Previous experience in a clinical or public health setting is highly desirable
- Ability to obtain required medical clearance and fit testing
Skills and Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of PowerPoint, Outlook, and/or Access
- Typing speed of at least 40 wpm
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Comfortable working in fast-paced clinical environments
- Ability to travel between clinic sites as needed
Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up clinician examination rooms and ensure appropriate supplies are available
- Assist clinicians during patient examinations
- Handle and prepare all types of specimens before and after examination
- Prepare, transport, and process specimens collected for testing
- Chaperone examinations and witness consent for procedures as needed
- Collect vital signs and assist with intake services
- Prepare patients and assist clinicians during Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) procedures
- Oversee inventory and preparation of LARC supplies
- Post laboratory results and perform greeter services
- Perform clerical functions such as patient registration
- Recall clinic patients with reactive results via text, phone, and email
- Conduct patient callbacks for missed appointments and rescheduling
- Schedule follow-up appointments
